The Faculty of Law, in which the European Joint Master of Human Rights and Genocide studies will be located, is one of the three faculties of Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). With its accent on German-Polish co-operation in research and teaching at the eastern border of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Faculty forges links of intellectual co-operation between western and eastern yet equally European traditions in science and culture. Since 1999 the Faculty has been running an annual international Summer Course, titled 'The European System of Human Rights Protection', regularly attended by 60-70 participants from more than 30 countries. The Faculty has recently developed a major new Master in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law.
